Almost all food products contain different types of additive materials, which are marked with E-numbers (where E means Europe), and at present there are more than 300 of them. The different additives get the E-numbers in accordance with a specified system. Those starting with 100 refer to the colouring agents, those with 200 refer mainly to the preservatives, the souring agents begin with 300, the jelly-making agents with 400, the flavour enhancers with 600, while the sweeteners with 900.
Most of them are harmless, but there are also some that may elicit allergic symptoms. In accordance with the opinions of nutrition scientists they are mostly harmless, since we cannot consume so much of them besides normal diet, which would mean such an extent of concentrated intake that would be harmful for the body.

As usually in case of the food products, it is also true in case of the oil-seeds: the emphasis is placed on the moderation and variety. The negative misbelieve may derive from the fact that the energy value of the oil-seeds is usually high, however, it itself does not give a complete view, since it is not the same that what ingredients the high energy value results from. Due to its valuable active substances and positive physiological effects exercised on our body the consumption of 1-2 handful oil-seeds a day is expressly recommended!
